The Herm Sprenger Fur Saver is a long-link chain collar whose extra-long links lie flat along the coat instead of catching and pulling the fur — which is exactly how it earns its name. Worn high on the neck, it gives clear, even communication and control while protecting the coat, making it a long-standing favourite for long- and thick-coated working breeds. Genuine Herm Sprenger, German-engineered.
This is the martingale version in 4.0mm Curogan (nickel-free, hypoallergenic and rust-free). A section of smaller links and rings gives a limited-slip action — it tightens just enough for a clear cue but stops before it can fully close, a gentler alternative to a full slip chain, suited to larger or strong dogs.
Fit & sizing: the size is the total chain length. Measure around your dog's neck and choose a length that sits high and comfortably with the martingale able to take up the slack. As with any training tool, introduce it positively and use it correctly; we recommend seeking professional advice, and you can browse our list of dog trainers and behaviourists here.
