Herm Sprenger® 2.25mm Ultra-Plus Prong Collar – Twin O-Ring (Stainless Steel)

£36.00

A great piece of equipment to begin teaching your dog the foundation of following leash pressure, the Herm Sprenger 2.25mm Ultra-Plus prong collar is a tool that provides clear communication between dog and handler. The collar itself has blunt, rounded prongs that spread pressure evenly around the neck, instead of one pressure point on the trachea like a flat collar. We only supply genuine Herm Sprenger prong collars — German-engineered and the standard trusted by working and sport handlers worldwide — with the Ultra-Plus centre-plate for a smooth, secure fit. Fitted correctly and used with guidance, it can make your walks enjoyable again.

Best for most medium dogs — the everyday all-rounder — think spaniels, collies, Staffies and similar. The 2.25mm is the go-to first prong for the average pet dog, in hard-wearing stainless steel that won't rust or stain the coat. Choose your gauge by your dog's strength, not neck size — length is set by adding or removing links.

Twin O-Ring or Swivel D-Ring — which should I choose?

Both attach your lead to the same collar; the difference is how the pressure feels and how the lead sits.

  • Twin O-Ring — two rings give you a choice. Clip to both rings for a softer, limited-cinch action (the "dead ring" setup most handlers use day to day); clip to the single live ring for a fuller, more direct tightening action when you want clearer feedback. The versatile, adjustable option.
  • Swivel D-Ring — a single ring on a swivel that turns freely so your lead never twists or tangles. A clean, direct connection, ideal for dogs that move around a lot, switch sides, or work on a long line.

This collar is the Twin O-Ring version.

CORRECT USE & FITTING

A prong collar only works when it's fitted correctly — worn wrongly it's both useless and unkind.

  • In most cases the collar should sit high on the neck, right behind the ears and up under the jawline.
  • Fit it snug by adding or removing links so it sits high and level — never buy a bigger collar and leave it loose.
  • Match the gauge to your dog's size, not to the collar's length.
  • Always run a backup: a safety clip or coupling strap to a flat collar, so your dog is never held by the prong alone.
  • Generally we would not recommend prong collars for dogs under 7–9 months.
  • New to prong collars? Work with a qualified balanced trainer. A prong supports training — it isn't a shortcut.

As with any training tool, you must condition the dog to the tool to ensure the best results. Applying a prong collar will not magically fix your dog's pulling issues, but when introduced and conditioned properly, it can improve and build strong communication between you and your dog.

We do not condone the improper use of our training prong collars. We strongly recommend seeking professional advice before utilising any training tool. To browse our list of dog trainers and behaviourists, please click here.

More Info

How the Twin O-Ring works.

  • The Twin O-Ring configuration gives you two attachment points on the collar — one on each side. Standard use is to clip your lead to a single ring for everyday correction, but you can attach both rings simultaneously for more direct, two-point feedback in higher-distraction work or when introducing the collar to a new dog. Many trainers use the dual-ring setup during initial conditioning when the dog needs the clearest possible feedback, then transition to single-ring for everyday handling once the conditioning is established.

Benefits include:

  • Reduced leash twisting during movement
  • Smoother lead handling and transitions
  • Improved positioning during obedience work
  • Enhanced durability compared to traditional chain attachment points
  • Cleaner and more stable leash connection

Precision German Engineering

  • Herm Sprenger collars are trusted worldwide within professional dog training, working dog handling, and canine sports due to their exceptional manufacturing quality.

  • Machine-rounded for improved comfort
  • Precision engineered for consistent pressure distribution
  • Manufactured using high-quality stainless steel
  • Designed for long-term durability and corrosion resistance

The collar is adjustable by adding or removing links to achieve the correct fit for your dog.

Suitable For

  • Loose lead walking training
